Manumit Mindset Workshops for Personal Growth

The (Impossible) Pursuit of Happiness

February 11
March 26
June 17

Why is it that the more we seek happiness, the less of it we find? There’s an answer, backed by neuroscience and behavioral research, and A SOLUTION!  This 2-hour interactive workshop explores our relationship to happiness – how we define it, what causes it, and most importantly, how to get MORE of it in our daily lives.

Paralysis and Prisons: common obstacles to adult learning

January 29
March 3

Do you wish you could learn something new – a craft, hobby, skill, language – but something is holding you back from getting started?  In this 2-hour interactive workshop, we will explore some of the neuroscience and behavioral research unraveling the common obstacles adults often experience when trying something new. We’ll gain new tools to help battle perfectionism, self-doubt and the prison of our own comfort zone

Re-Entry: peaceful living with back-home adult children

April 29
June 9

Do you have an adult child returning to your home after some time away – their freshman year of college, a gap year, an internship, or even college graduation? Parents have adjusted to life without that child in the house, and the kids have had LOTS of experiences that don’t include their parents.  Everyone has a different sense of identity, freedom and independence.  And now, the child is coming back home, and everyone is both excited and unsure of what ‘RE-ENTRY’ will look like.

We know that the family dynamic of ‘before’ won’t work now, and the new situation is headed into uncharted waters.  Except, it’s not.  Millions of families have navigated this transition – some gracefully, others, not so much.

Your family can avoid some unnecessary conflict, and this workshop will provide some proven tools and strategies to ease the transition!  You’ll leave with the framework of a plan for preventing, and addressing, issues that come up as you settle into your new family dynamic.

Searching for Peace of Mind – finding balance in a demanding world

Modern life is all about budgeting our time, energy, and physical and emotional resources.  Our busy lives can quickly get out of balance, forcing us to squander precious resources in situations we can’t change, rather than focusing our gifts and talents on the areas where we have the most impact.  This workshop will help us evaluate the biggest draws on our limited resources, and create some strategies for budgeting them wisely, and restoring the balance that creates a joyful, sustainable way of living.

Other Human-Interest Classes

Basic Backyard Bird Feeding

April 8
May 5

There are only FOUR times a year that you should feed your backyard birds – spring, summer, fall and winter!  This class will decode the variables of bird feeding: food, feeders, species and seasons. Stop buying seed that birds don’t eat and feeders that birds don’t use. With a few simple tips, you’ll increase the variety and number of birds coming to your feeders and decrease the dollars you spend on wasted food!  We’ll talk about seeds, suet, nectar and nuts, as well as when-and-why to use different types of feeders.

Introduction to Intermittent Fasting

February 26
May 21

A broad look at Intermittent Fasting – Intermittent Fasting (IF) is NOT another diet – it’s a lifestyle!  We’ll discuss intermittent fasting formats (focused on ‘daily scheduled eating’, not extended fasting); how & why fasting works; unexpected health benefits of IF; strategies for integrating fasting into your lifestyle; how mindset and neuroscience can help you reach your goal, and resources & tools to make getting started easier.  We will NOT discuss calorie counting, restrictive-eating diets or fitness programs.

Winter Bliss – dressing for safety and comfort in winter

January 7

You don’t have to be cold and miserable anymore! Whether you’re running errands, snowshoeing, shoveling your roof or winter camping, you’ll enjoy your outdoor time more if you’re dressing well. We’ll learn about different fabrics, layering techniques, managing changing conditions and human physiology as well as how to find great gear without spending a fortune!
